Hannah Oliver

BNurs, GradDipMentHlthNurs, MNursePrac

Hannah Oliver is an AHPRA endorsed Nurse Practitioner and the founder of NP Clinic Mildura. She has extensive experience in mental health nursing, with a particular focus on perinatal mental health care, adult mental health, and ADHD assessment and management.

As a Nurse Practitioner, Hannah is trained to assess, diagnose, prescribe, and provide therapeutic care. Her approach is thoughtful and thorough, taking the time to understand the full context of each person’s experience rather than focusing only on symptoms. She works collaboratively with local GPs and, where required, with a consultant psychiatrist to ensure safe and comprehensive care.

Hannah has a strong interest in ADHD, particularly in improving access to timely, high-quality assessment and treatment in regional communities. She is committed to providing care that is both clinically rigorous and genuinely accessible, recognising the unique challenges faced by people living in rural and regional areas.

Hannah is a member of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF), Australian College of Nursing (ACN), Australian College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP), and Australasian ADHD Professional's Association (AADPA).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Nurse Practitioner?

A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice nurse with master’s level training who can assess, diagnose, prescribe medications, and provide therapy. NPs work both independently and collaboratively with other specialists to deliver comprehensive care.

How is this different from seeing a GP or psychiatrist?

This clinic offers longer, more in-depth appointments with a focus on mental health assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing management. Where needed, care is coordinated with your GP and, for ADHD or complex presentations, a collaborating psychiatrist.

What if I am in crisis?

This clinic is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate distress, please contact Mental Health Triage, present to the Emergency Department, or call Lifeline (13 11 14).

Do I need a referral?

No, you can self-refer. GP referrals are also welcome, especially if you’d like coordinated care or Medicare rebates where applicable.

What happens at the first appointment?

Your initial appointment is a comprehensive assessment. This includes your history, current concerns, screening tools (if relevant), and development of a treatment plan. It’s designed to feel thorough, not rushed.

How long are appointments?

Initial assessments are typically 60 minutes. Follow-ups vary from 10–30 minutes depending on your needs.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Telehealth is available for many appointments, particularly after medication adjustments. All assessments require at least one in-person consultation.

Do you assess and diagnose ADHD?

Yes. ADHD assessments involve structured screening tools, clinical interview, and developmental history. Diagnosis is made carefully over at least two sessions.

Can you prescribe ADHD medication?

As a Nurse Practitioner, prescribing is within scope; however, stimulant medications require collaboration with a psychiatrist. This clinic works with a telehealth consultant psychiatrist to ensure safe and appropriate prescribing.

Do I need to bring anything for my assessment?

You may be asked to bring school reports or other relevant documents to support your assessment. Information from a parent, caregiver, partner, or close family member may also be helpful in understanding childhood and current functioning.

How long does the ADHD process take?

Typically 2–3 appointments. This allows for a thorough and accurate assessment rather than a rushed diagnosis.

What are the fees?

Fees vary depending on appointment type. A full fee schedule is available when booking.

Do you offer Medicare rebates?

Some services may attract Medicare rebates under Nurse Practitioner item numbers, depending on eligibility requirements (including having an established clinical relationship where applicable).

Is bulk billing available?

Limited bulk billing may be offered for brief telehealth follow-ups only.

Do you treat children?

No. Currently, services are focused on adults.

What conditions do you treat?

  • Perinatal mental health (pregnancy and postnatal)

  • Depression and anxiety

  • ADHD (assessment and management)

  • Emotional and adjustment difficulties

  • Stress management

  • Sleep difficulties

Do you provide therapy as well as medication?

Yes. Care is holistic and may include therapy, medication, or both depending on what suits you in line with best practice guidelines.

Is my information confidential?

Yes. Your information is handled in accordance with Australian privacy laws. Communication with other providers only occurs with your consent.

Can I still see my GP?

Absolutely. This clinic works alongside your GP, not instead of them.
